Kim and Blake’s Wedding at El Hotel El Convento was one of the most unforgettable weddings that I have ever worked in. Kim and Blake share a unique bond to one another. It could be said that they shared a unique bond with us (and my family) as well.

We first met when I shot their incredible Love Story session in the scenic mountain ranges of Puerto Rico months before their wedding day. From that moment, we knew that their wedding day at the Hotel El Convento would be a special one given the love that they expressed to each other at every turn.

It has been said that, “the eyes are the window to the soul.” This was never more true than in Kim and Blake’s case. It is easy to tell how immense their love is by the way that they look at each other. That spark in their eyes was never brighter than on their wedding day.

The couple picked a perfect venue for the proceedings. El Hotel El Convento has a classic look that immediately transports you into a different, more refined, and elegant time period. Built in 1646, Hotel El Convento is a preserved luxurious remnant of the “old world”. The Hotel fits perfectly in its historic surroundings, as Old San Juan is United States’ oldest city. The adjoined San Juan Cathedral is the second oldest cathedral in the Western Hemisphere. Very few places in America can match the classic romantic vibes of Old San Juan, and it is a perfect spot for couple and wedding photographs.

Kim and Blake’s wedding ceremony took place in the near by Plaza La Rogativa. The Rogativa (The Procession) acquired its name during the British Invasion of the city in 1797, as Spanish bishops made a procession of faith in the area and the British thought the men were Spanish reinforcements. This event of faith made them pull back and give up on the attack to the city.

It was fitting then, that a love story so unique and fantastic such as Kim and Blake’s was tied up in a city full of history and tales to tell. Kim and Blake’s love story will forever be tied to Old San Juan and its countless enchanting stories. It was a privilege to have been able  to capture their happiest of days, and to have forged a cherished friendship with these unforgettable love birds!
